- What is Cashback Bonus ®?
The Discover Card cash rewards program is called the Cashback Bonus Program. The new Discover Motiva Card makes it easy to earn Cashback Bonus in 2 ways—by paying on-time and making purchases. You'll earn up to 1% Cashback Bonus on every purchase. You can also earn a Pay-On-Time Bonus for making your payments on-time. There is no limit to the amount of Cashback Bonus you can earn!
- What is a Pay-On-Time Bonus?
Pay-on-Time Bonus is a type of Cashback Bonus that you earn for making your payments on-time. Each time you make 6 on-time payments in a row, we'll pay you the next month's interest back as a Pay-On-Time Bonus. An on-time payment means paying at least the Minimum Payment Due by the Payment Due Date. Your statement will display the remaining number of on-time payments you need to earn a Pay-On-Time Bonus. The amount of your Pay-On-Time Bonus will be included on your statement in the Cashback Bonus Summary section, along with the cash rewards you've earned on purchases.
- How can I earn a Pay-On-Time Bonus twice a year, every year?
When you have a Minimum Payment Due every month and you always pay it by the Payment Due Date, over the course of a 12-month period, you will earn a Pay-On-Time Bonus twice!
- What do you mean by “a full month of interest back”?
The interest used to calculate your Pay-On-Time Bonus is the combined Periodic Finance Charges on purchases, balance transfers, and cash advances shown on your billing statement in the Finance Charge Summary section. The amount of these Periodic Finance Charges will depend on your current balance, Annual Percentage Rates and payments and will not include any Transaction Fee Finance Charges.
- Will I still earn a Pay-On-Time Bonus if I forget to make a payment?
You must make 6 on-time payments in a row to earn a Pay-On-Time Bonus. Each time you make a late payment, pay less than the Minimum Payment Due (or make no payment at all) or your payment is returned unpaid, you will lose the number of on-time payments previously made. Your next statement will display that you must make six on-time payments to earn a Pay-On-Time Bonus.
- What if I don't have a Minimum Payment Due?
The number of on-time payments you have remaining until you are eligible for a Pay-On-Time Bonus will not change when you do not have a Minimum Payment Due (for example, because you paid your balance in full during the previous month). When you make your next required payment on-time, it will count toward earning your Pay-On-Time Bonus.
- Are there other ways I can earn Cashback Bonus?
In addition to your Pay-On-Time bonus, you can earn Cashback Bonus by using your Motiva Card for regular, everyday purchases.

- Get up to 1% Cashback Bonus on all your other purchases
Once you've earned $20 Cashback Bonus or more, you can redeem it in $20 increments multiple ways:
- Get it in cash: credit your Discover Card Account, make an electronic deposit to your bank account or request a check
- Increase, even double, your Cashback Bonus when you redeem for gift cards from our brand-name Partners
You cannot redeem your Cashback Bonus if your Account is delinquent. Log in to the Account Center to see the Cashback Bonus Terms and Conditions for additional information.
- How can I find out the status of my Discover Motiva Card application?
It can take up to 30 days to process an application. If 30 days has passed since you applied, please call us toll free at 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683) to find out the status of your application.
- Why do I need to activate my new Discover Motiva Card?
The activation process is a security measure. When you call us to activate your Motiva Card, we will ask you to provide your personal information. This is how we ensure that you, not others, are using your Card. To make the activation process as quick as possible, please call us from your home phone. For security purposes, if you receive multiple Card packages in the mail, you will need to activate each one separately.
- How can I get cash with my Discover Motiva Card?
You can get cash at over 150,000 Discover Cash Network ATMs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All you need is your PIN and your Discover Card. You can also stop in at one of more than 58,000 participating banks and financial institutions for quick cash using your Card and photo ID. - How can I request a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for ATMs and cash advances?
Please call us at 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683) from your home telephone. A Customer Service representative will ask you a few questions and process your request. PINs may be requested only by telephone at this time.
- Can I request an additional Discover Motiva Card online?
In Customer Service within the Account Center, you can request new designs for your Card, add an Authorized User to your Account or request a replacement for a worn or damaged Card. Just log in to the Account Center, go to Customer Service and choose either the “Request or Replace a Card” link or “Add a Person to Your Account” link under Account-Related Requests.
- What should I do if my Discover Motiva Card is lost or stolen?
Call us immediately at 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683) to report the Card’s loss or theft. We will close your Account and reissue you a new Account number and Card(s). If your lost/stolen Discover Card is registered at the Account Center, you’ll need to re-register when your new Card arrives in the mail.
If you use our Auto Bill Pay online service, we will contact your biller directly to inform them of your new Account number and expiration date.
If you have set up automatic payments directly with billers outside of the Auto Bill Pay service, you will need to contact them with your new Account number and expiration date.
- Can I change my address, phone number and e-mail address online?
Yes. Log in to the Account Center, go to Personal Profile, and then click on “Update Your Personal Information.” You can change your Account information in addition to managing other aspects of your Account. Not registered for the Account Center? Register now.
- How can I request a credit limit increase?
Please call us at 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683). A Customer Service representative will ask you a few questions and process your request. Credit limit increases may be requested only by telephone at this time.
- Who are the participating Cashback Bonus Partners?
View a list of our Partners. You can increase, even double, your Cashback Bonus when you redeem for gift cards from our brand-name Partners.
- Where do I find my Cashback Bonus totals?
Look for your totals on the first page of your monthly Discover Card statement. Or log in to see your Cashback Bonus Summary online in the Account Center. Not registered for the Account Center? Register now.
- How long does it take to process a balance transfer to my Discover Motiva Card?
When you request a balance transfer, Discover Motiva Card makes a payment to your other creditor(s). It may take up to two weeks for them to receive the funds and credit your other account. This means you should make payments to your creditor(s) until the balance transfer is complete to avoid late fees and finance charges. It’s best to contact your other creditor(s) to confirm they have received the balance transfer.
The balance transfer may post to your Discover Motiva Card Account at any time within the two-week period. You can check to see if it has posted by logging in to the Account Center and clicking on “View activity since last statement.” Not registered for the Account Center? Register now.
